When your starting your snow blower, is the choke supposed to be on or off?

I can't remember which position the choke is supposed to be in , in order to turn my snow blower on. Help Please?

The choke should be on (closed) when starting it. There may also be a primer pump that primes the carburetor with fuel. Push the primer several (3-5) times and pull the starter… it should start and run a little rough. Then open the choke until it starts to run smooth. As it warms up, you can open the choke all the way.
