Toro CCR1000 Snowblower problem?

Over the summer i purchased a very nice single stage Toro CCR1000 snowblower at a rummage sale for .00. The price was low because of it needing a new primer bulb. Since it snowed here in Wisconsin recently i started using it. It was running great until it started stalling. You had to prime it to keep it running. The gas that was in the tank was old, but i did not figure it mattered since it ran so good. When i was in the garage i removed the float bowl, and cleaned it with a toothbrush. After i put it back together the thing would not start. When i got home from work this morning it started with 3 pulls! Should i dump the remaining gas out, and clean out the float bowl again to be safe?

I would dump the old gas and fill with a good fresh gasoline. I would also add a gas preservative (sta-bil) just to be sure the gas stays fresh. If the engine is running well, there is no reason to rebuild the carb.
