Snowblower Help!!!?
I was snowblowing with my 2 stage, Ariens snowblower and ran over a shovel. I got the shovel out but the auger won't turn! The things that throw the snow out of the chute turn but the auger doesn't. The only time that it turns is when the machine is off and you move it with your hand. Is that
Is that bad that the auger will turn only when off?
Please help! 18 inches of snow and only have a shovel! Best answer gets 10 POINTS!

I’m not familiar with this model but it sounds like you may have broken a sheer pin.The only way to know for sure is take it apart or call a local repair shop and ask them.They probably could tell you how much trouble it is to fix.
Have a look here, http://wssemw.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF. There should be a ‘shear bolt’ attaching the augers to the main shaft. Otherwise you may have broken a shear pin in the drive from the engine to the auger drive. Really should only be a shear bolt x 2. Let it snow , let it snow………
sounds like shear pins, ace hardware carries a selection of shear pins where i live…find the holes in the shaft where they go (mine uses 2) and find a bolt that matches diameter and long enough to go through the shaft and have room on the end for a nut…take this to ace and have them match it up with shear pins the same size…
