I bought a used John Deere TRS21 snowblower and it has manual as well as electric start the cord did not come with it. it looks like it will take a standard extension cord. Is this true?

Yes, I have one also. I have the factory lead which is like any heavy duty extension cord you can buy at any hardware store.
You can try it – if it’s made for a 110v current, you probably won’t hurt it.
Otherwise, take it to a John Deere dealer, and ask the expert. Then buy the cord there, to pay him for his services. But remember – Nothing Costs like a Deere.
A standard 3 prong extention cord will work. It doesn’t take all that much current to operate the starter, but as always if you need a really long cord, you might consider getting one with heavier (lower) guage wire.
BTW – it isn’t supposed to come with a cord. The idea is that after you forget and leave the cord out and chew it up with the snowblower, you can just get another cord.
yes it will
