Should I buy a snow blower?

We live in northern Colorado and our winters are usually pretty mild. Lately, however, we have been getting a lot of snow and are considering purchasing a snow blower (we're having another storm as I type this). Are snow blowers worth the investment and how much money can we expect to spend on a decent model? Can you recommend specific models? Thanks!

    Yes the blowers are worth it. Average price is around $350-450 for a decent blower. I bought a couple of toro in my life and they started every time. As long as you change oil on time and grease when specified. The bodies failed before the engine or clutches did. For a specific model I don’t know what they are for this year. They change all the time. Check with shoot I can’t remember something report,they tell you which one is best for your buck. Consumer Report. Yea, I didn’t loose my mind. Thats your best bet.

    Depending on how much snow you get – a good snow blower will do a pretty good job and is worth it – about 8 to 10 HP will do a good job – you could get one for around $800

    Where was this snow last year when I was skiing in Colorado? I am from NC…I know nothing about snow blowers. Stay safe…Happy New Year!!!

    you might consider one, and it depends on how much area you have to clear. For just a sidewalk, a cheap 150-200 lightweight one should work.
    For a driveway, a self propelled 6-10 hp one would be better. Expect to pay 1000 or so.

    I live in Utah; and where I live most everyone I know just uses a snowplow attachment on the four wheeler off road unit.
    The snow keeps an average depth of about 3-4 feet over course of the winter season stay safe and happy holidays I say get a ORV (off road vehichle) then you can plow your side walk, the driveway and the driveways and front sidwalks of your city block in less time than using a blower unit would take to clear your driveway alone. and your nieghbors are very unlikely to complain about the sidewalk being cleared. When they did not need to do it themselves.

    Area of NY iI live has winters w/ light to heavy snow.
    Considered a blower when I bought home 30 yrs ago.
    In that time, I have paid kids or a plowtruck less than $300
    to dig me out.
    Still ahead of the game had I bought one.
    Might be a good idea if you’re outside of town & getting snowed in
    is more than an inconvenience.
    No expert on subject,but, I see a lot of Toro machines used by town & on larger homes.
    Definitely buy one if it means getting to Ski areas faster.
