Is it more economical time/money wise to just use a snow shovel to clearn the driveway and sidewalks?
rather than buying a snow blower? Got about 150 feet of sidewalks and a single car driveway. Wondering whether to shell it out or man it up

Live in N.East & snow is an all or nothing deal where I live.
Have shovels for light stuff.
Pay kids or hire a plow to do it when it gets too deep ..
A blower would be a nice toy, however have figured that a decent one would cost about $1,200 +/-,needs some maint & a place to store it…. a problem for me..
Anyhow after 30 years in the place have spent just a few hundred,( maybe), to have someone else do it.
So far ,I’m way ahead of the game.
If heavy snow is guaranteed every year , I would get one just for convenience.
Best regards
Of course.
In South Carolina we don’t do either.
I would say the snow Shovel. We have a long drive way and a big turn around where I live,Luckily we have Great Neighbour who plow our drive way out for free all the time.I still have to shovel the walkways and even the top of our turn around.
I would say it depends on how many inches of snow per year you get. If you only get a couple snows per year that total less than 6", then it wouldn’t be that much work to clear. You could always hire a neighborhood kid to help for a few bucks.
If you get regular snow, especially if you get a few inches in each snow, it will be much more work to clear. Get the blower.
Of course, you might be the kind of guy that likes gas powered equipment. If you have the spare chash, go for it!
Depending on how much snow you get annually, you could be in fantastic shape by the time spring rolls around.
It really depends on where you live. If you expect lots of snow, save yourself the trouble and get the blower. If you don’t get much, stick with the shovel. When you get tired, you can hire neighborhood kids.
How much is your time worth? You can figure it will take you maybe an hour or more by hand and half an hour with a blower.
I usually do my drive by hand if the snow is less than 2 inches. If the snow is deep, or the snow is wet, I’ll use the blower.
It depends on your age and your physical fitness. A snow blower is cheaper than a heart attack. Where again fit you fit it won’t hurt you to sling a shovel. You also have the storage issue of a snow blower when not in use.
