Is a snow blower a useful device?

I have a pretty large driveway and also need to clear snow from the path on one side of my house. I am planning to buy a snow blower to help me with this. Can someone recommend which snow blower I must buy. Is an electrical one better or a gas one? Also how useful is it?

Best investment I have made! Go as large as you can afford at least 10-12 HP, gas powered with an electric start. You don’t need a name brand as most use the same engine. You will save a lot by buying the Lowes or Home Depot store brand. An electric shovel is great for the stairs and deck. Of course I am from the Northeast where we get a lot of snow. After removing the snow I retire to the Hot tub, my second greatest investment.

Your driveway is long, so I would get a gas powered one, and with an electric start. It would be a good idea to ask around, where you see someone that may have one. Look into the warranty package, cause if you have problems it can go back. They are very useful, if you have the time and the strength. There are so many on the market, shop around, it is a big investment for something your only going to use for a few months out of the year.

Depends on the average amount of snow you get. I would buy a gas unit since there are times the cord would not be long enough and the power is less than the gas models. Snow blowers are like a plunger for the bathroom. They take up space and serve no purpose, until needed.
