If you average more than 25 inches of snow in a winter, I would recommend a 2 stage snowblower. This has the auger on the front, then an impeller i at the base of the chute which forces the snow out. Unfortunately, they are not cheap. I have an Ariens that I bought at Home Depot. It has a 5-1/2 hp engine, a 20" width, and is self propelled, as most 2 stage snowblowers are. It sells for around $600. You can get smaller ones. but they still run over $500. It's pretty hard to find them this time of year, but check with the store. They may have one or two in their warehouse. Hope this helps.
