Ariens Snowblower Engine model 924038?

I need the specs for an Ariens Snowblower 924038 7HP Engine. Mine blew after 20 years and I want to replace it. What would be a compatible engine?

I agree- you want at least what the original horsepower motor was or slightly bigger , the max i would go is 10HP. If you still have the original motor, keep the carb linkage and original engine pulleys, starter -they need to be switched to the new motor ( if its the same brand – if not, the pulley is only thing that can be reused). Since ive tinkered with small engines for 12 years, I know tecumseh motors are great in really cold weather, Briggs and stratton motors like heat .
To compare new motor prices: http://www.northerntool.com – the other best bet is to look for a horizontal shafted motor that runs ( like on a tiller or another snowblower ) with like a bad transmission from the local classifieds or http://www.craigslist.org in your area.
